Puffmi DURA 18000 Disposables Review

Design & Build Quality

The DURA 18000 may be the most nicely designed device I’ve seen from Puffmi. There’s nothing special going on, but the simplicity is exactly what I like about it. It’s a medium-sized disposable, verging on large, but the sides and corners are all rounded, which gives it a nice look and feel in my hand.

The device is entirely made of plastic, but the colorful back/side shell has a soft-touch finish that prevents the DURA 18000 from feeling cheap. This colorful shell is also finished to look like leather through faux stitching and a fine-grain leather texture.

It looks really good and, if it’s not pressed or examined too closely, will definitely pass as leather to the untrained eye. 

The front side of the device has a large black plastic panel that sits atop the screen. It’s a little early for Christmas,  but there’s a Christmas tree design that lights up with each puff. There’s also a snow pattern that is printed on the black plastic. It looks odd when the display is off, like some dust is on the device, but it makes sense when the Christmas tree lights up.

The display is simple, offering not much more than the lit up Christmas tree design, a battery percentage readout, and a very basic e-juice level indicator. 

The black plastic that covers the display isn’t very resilient, and it picks up scratches like no tomorrow. After the first day of use, the plastic was already looking beat up.

The mouthpiece is made of hard plastic and color-matched to the shell of each device. The color of the DURA 18000 is based on the flavor: Pineapple Lemonade is yellow, Cool Mint is green, Ruby Red Grapefruit is red, etc. The flavor is printed on the front of each device.

The DURA 18000 looks good, sure, but what does it offer? Let’s get into the features.

Features

If all you care about in a disposable vape is that it works and delivers good flavor, then you’ll like the DURA 18000. It has a few basic features, but it’s not adjustable at all. There are no different modes, no wattage adjustment, and no airflow adjustment either. It’s a basic disposable, with a basic display that offers some information on the battery and e-juice levels, but not much else.

Starting with the specs, the DURA 18000 promises up to 18000 puffs per device. It comes filled with 18ml of ejuice and is only available in a 20mg/ml nicotine strength. The battery is an 850mAh cell, which is decent, and it recharges with Type-C charging.

The display shows a battery life percentage readout in 5% increments. It’s proven accurate, always going through the full battery range before finally dying after being at 5%. A full charge takes an hour and a half.

The e-juice indicator is less helpful. It consists of three colored bars displayed just underneath the battery percentage. As the e-juice level goes down, the bars disappear to let you know the e-juice is depleting. I have no idea how much e-juice the different bars represent. It could be 33% e-juice per bar, which is likely based on my experience of how it drains, but I could be wrong.

Since the airflow is set and can’t be adjusted, you get the draw that the DURA 18000 provides, and that’s it. It’s a semi-tight mouth-to-lung, but not too tight, which I found enjoyable. If you like a really tight draw or a looser, more RDL draw, this won’t be the disposable for you.

Flavors

At launch, the DURA 18000 will have twenty flavors available. That’s a slightly higher number than I have come to expect from new disposables, with most launching with fifteen. Due to limited sample availability, I was only sent two flavors for this review, so I won’t be able to provide broad information on how the flavors are as a whole, but I’ll give my thoughts on the two that I received.

As always, I’m going to describe how two of these flavors taste to me and what I think of them. However, keep in mind that just because I like a flavor does not mean that you will like it. Similarly, if I don’t like a flavor, it doesn’t mean you won’t like it. This is solely my subjective opinion.

Cherry Lemon

This is probably one of the best cherry and lemon flavors that I’ve tried, and it’s for a few reasons. One is that neither flavor is too strong or artificial tasting. Second, both flavors are pretty equal in strength, so I can taste both easily. It’s a mix, with the flavors coming in and out throughout the draw, rather than one after the other. 

Sour Apple

The apple flavor here is good and crisp, but I feel like it could be more tart. There’s the start of a sour taste, but it’s more bitter than sour. The apple flavor itself is Granny Smith to my tastes, with a mild sweetness that is similar to an actual Granny Smith apple. As an apple flavor lover, I find this flavor good, even if it isn’t quite as tart as I desired.

How do they vape?

The DURA 18000 is a satisfying vape, both in flavor and nicotine delivery. These are only available in 20mg/ml nicotine strength, but still, the draw is powerful enough that I often forgot that these aren’t 35-50mg/ml disposables.

The semi-tight MTL draw is a winner for me. I don’t like to struggle to get a draw from my vape, and the DURA 18000 activates easily and quickly. It produces a lot of vapor, too, for a disposable, which is probably why the draws feel so satisfying.

The warmth of the draw is great. It’s not hot, but warm, and feels good to inhale. It’s a smooth draw, too, and not harsh at all. 

As for any leaking or malfunctions, I didn’t experience any with my two DURA 18000 units. The draw-activation works as expected, and I didn’t get any e-juice in my mouth, nor any e-juice leaking from the device. 

Verdict

Puffmi’s DURA 18000 disposables are ones that I kept going back to for a puff whenever I needed one. It should come as no surprise that, after trying so many disposable vapes, I know a good one from a bad one, and that’s immediately apparent by whether I actually want to use the device or not.

Thankfully for me, and for the DURA 18000, these are disposables that I thoroughly enjoyed using. They’re simple, but they work really well. Airflow adjustment would have been nice, and a more detailed e-juice level indicator would also be welcome. But neither of these will be deal-breakers if all you want is a simple disposable vape that delivers good flavor and nicotine satisfaction.
