Wotofo nexPOD Refillo Review: Powerful Performance & Rich Flavor

Nowadays, it seems like every new pod vape that comes out is getting larger and larger and featuring a massive screen with multiple buttons. But if that’s not what you’re looking for, the simple design of the nexPOD Refillo might be. 

Wotofo has released a throw-back device here that isn’t caught up in being the best-looking, most powerful, or most customizable. It has one job and one job only, and that’s to be a user-friendly pod vape.

There are no bells and whistles here. When you open the box, you get a single pod and a plain-looking but rather nice device. The Refillo pod kit is tall and slim at 117mm tall, 24mm wide, and 14mm deep. It’s comparable in size to other pod vapes of the same form factor, like the Geekvape Sonder Q2 and Innokin Trine SE. It’s also a comparable weight at 45g, which is a nice light weight for a pod vape.

The Refillo pod kit comes in ten colors, which is more colors than I’ve seen for any other recently released pod vape. There are six solid colors and four gradient colors, all of which are nicely finished onto the aluminum alloy body. 

Even after having the device in the same pocket as my keys a few times, there are no visible scratches or marks on the paint, so it seems like a strong and durable finish.

There isn’t a lot of branding, which suits the minimal design of the device. NEXPOD REFILLO is printed in slightly raised lettering on the front, and the back features a small WOTOFO logo. 

On one side of the device, there is an airflow control slider with three airflow slots. The slider is firm, allowing small adjustments to dial in the draw. On the other side of the device, there is an LED indicator for battery life and a Type-C charging port.

Features

As an alternative to disposable vapes, the Refillo pod kit keeps things simple. While it requires filling with your own ejuice, and you will have to replace the pod from time to time, it’s otherwise no more complicated to use than the simplest of disposables.

The Refillo kit does not have adjustable wattage. Instead, when you insert a pod, it automatically sets the wattage to the ideal level. The only feature that is adjustable is the airflow, which can be easily changed by moving the slider up or down.

You really just fill up a pod, insert it, and draw on the mouthpiece to vape. It’s as simple and beginner-friendly as a pod vape can be.

Pods

Unlike most other pod vapes that are being released, the nexPOD Refillo has multiple pod resistances available. These range from low-resistance pods for RDL and freebase ejuices, to higher resistances pod for MTL and nicotine salt ejuices:

• 0.4Ω – 28W (RDL)
• 0.6Ω – 20W (RDL/MTL)
• 0.8Ω – 16W (RDL/MTL)
• 1.2Ω – 10W (MTL)

The 0.8Ω pod comes included in the box. The rest of the pods are sold separately. What I like about these pods is that they’re color-coded, so it’s easy to tell them apart without having to look at the resistance that is printed on the pod.

There’s a very light tint to the pods, but this doesn’t hamper the ability to see into them, so checking my remaining ejuice is easy.

The pods do, however, sit in the device in a way that leaves the bottom quarter of the pod contents hidden, so you can’t see your full pod contents without removing the pod. The trick is to fill the pod once you can’t see your remaining ejuice because, at this point, you’re going to need to fill it soon anyway.

These pods hold 3ml of ejuice, which is a nice upgrade from the standard 2ml pod capacity that is common on the market.

The fill port is on the side of the pod and cannot be accessed while the pod is inserted into the device. A solid rubber bung plugs the fill hole, and I haven’t had any leakage or seepage from the fill port.

Battery life & Charging

The 1000mAh battery in the nexPOD Refillo pod kit is surprisingly robust and long-lasting. I’ve spent time using just a single pod resistance for a full charge, as well as switching between them, and the battery life is excellent in both cases.

Using only the 1.2Ω pod, I was able to vape over three pods with a single charge. The battery with the 0.8Ω pod lasts for around two and a half pods, while the 0.4Ω pod drains the battery in under two pods. When using a mix of the different pods, the average battery life was somewhere around two and a half pods, which is great for a small pod vape.

The LED indicator on the side of the device, just above the charging port, lights up in one of three colors to indicate the battery state. It lights up every time that you inhale but it turns off quickly, so you have to be quick and intentionally looking to check your battery life or else you’ll miss it. The colors and corresponding battery charge are:

• Green: 100-70%
• Blue: 70-30%
• Red: 30-0%

Even more impressive than the battery life is the charging speed. When plugged into a wall charger with an appropriate 2A block and cable, the nexPOD Refillo only takes 35 minutes to charge fully. The LED indicator will be solid red for the entire charge duration until it reaches full, at which point it will change to solid green.

Performance

I’ve become so used to the new standard of pod vapes with their fancy displays, plethora of buttons, and adjustability out the wazoo, that I just automatically assumed that the nexPOD Refillo pod kit wouldn’t be as good, simply due to the fact that it’s so sparse in features. 

However, after using the device with all four available pods, I have to admit that I was wrong to count it out so quickly. The nexPOD Refillo is seriously one of the most flavorful and reliable devices out right now, and the new Refillo pods are a big reason why.

The range of pod resistances means that the Refillo can be used for RDL and MTL vaping, as well as for freebase ejuices and nicotine salts.

The 0.4Ω pod is a warm and pleasant vape at the 28W that it fires at, and it vapes perfectly well with a 10mg nic salt or a 6mg/ml freebase ejuice. It’s an RDL draw all throughout the airflow range, even when closing down the airflow, so it’s perfect for RDL vapers.

If you’re like me and appreciate RDL sometimes and MTL others, the 0.6Ω and 0.8Ω pods are and can do both. The 0.6Ω pod does RDL better, and the 0.8Ω pod does MTL better, but each is usable for both vaping styles. The flavor produced by each pod is similar, but I think I prefer the warmer draw of the 0.6Ω pod just a bit better due to it firing at 20W vs the 16W of the 0.8Ω.

Vapers who like a cooler MTL draw can pick up the 1.2Ω pod. The vapor it produces is not warm enough for me to use it as my full-time pod of choice, but I can’t deny that it puts out great flavor. This pod can go from a loose/medium MTL draw with the airflow open, down to a tight MTL draw with the airflow closed, and the flavor is stellar all the way through.

On top of being flavorful, these pods don’t quit. They’ve lasted me for multiple refills each and are still vaping like the first. These are 3ml pods, too, so I’m vaping 50% more ejuice per pod when compared to an average pod, which makes their longevity even more impressive.

Verdict

Out of all the Wotofo pod vapes that I’ve used, the simple and humble nexPOD Refillo is, surprisingly, the best one yet.

As an alternative to disposable vapes, its simplicity and beginner-friendliness make it just as easy to use as any disposable. Yes, you have to fill it up with your own ejuice and replace the pod now and then, but these simple tasks can save you a lot of money in the long run.

Aside from a high level of adjustability, this device has everything else going for it: a slim and portable design, flavorful and long-lasting pods, a long-lasting battery, quick charging, and overall reliability. It vapes, and it vapes well, and that’s about as much as you can ask from a pod vape.

The device only comes with a single 0.8Ω pod in the box, which is best for nic salts and MTL vaping. So, if you’re planning on doing some RDL or want an even tighter MTL draw, I recommend picking up the appropriate pod resistance for your needs.
